Kim Arthurs (Mooners Makes)

Kim is an artist with a focus in Cyanotypes. A cyanotype is a photographic printing process which exposes in sunlight and develops in water. It was discovered by John Herschel, an astronomer, in 1842 and popularized by Anna Atkins, a botanist and first female photographer, in the 19th century. Each cyanotype is printed in sunlight and crafted with botanicals collected from Kim’s garden or foraged from walks in the woods and beach, and re-imagined into dreamscapes and otherworldly lifeforms. The root of Kim’s work stems from a passion for curiosity, aiming to harvest familiarity and transform it into the fantastical and uncanny.

Ukraine Donation

Cyanotypes created in honor of Ukraine’s resistance, and a celebration of the brave Ukrainian woman who confronted Russian soldiers with nothing but a bag of sunflower seeds, told them to put the seeds in their pockets, so that the sunflower would grow when their bodies fell from battle. All proceeds go directly to Razom for Ukraine to provide military relief and first aid supplies to Ukraine.

2021 Portfolio

A nostalgic collection of cyanotypes forged from the first summer of learning and experimenting with the cyanotype process and meditation.
